2026 Neighbourly Prospa Local Business Hero Competition
- These terms and conditions govern the 2026 Neighbourly Prospa Local Business Hero Promotion (the “Promotion”).
- Information on how to enter and prizes forms part of the terms of entry. To the extent of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and any other reference to the Promotion, these Terms and Conditions prevail.
- Entry into this Promotion and/or acceptance or receipt of a prize is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
- The promoter is Neighbourly of 4 Williamson Ave, Auckland, New Zealand (the “Promoter”). Prospa NZ Ltd (“Prospa”) is not the promoter of the Promotion.
- Important dates:
- Nominations open: 15th April 2026 at 9am (Auckland time).
- Nominations close: 10th May 2026 at 11:59pm (Auckland time) (together with the nominations open date, the “Nomination Period”).
- Shortlist finalists confirmed by 15th May 2026.
- Voting commences: 26th May and closes 12th June 2026.
- NZ Local Business Hero Winner announced: 17 June 2026.
- Entry into this Promotion by submitting a Prospa Local Business Hero nomination (a “Nomination”) constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Acceptance and receipt of any prize by a finalist or winner is deemed as acceptance of, and agreement to be bound by, these Terms and Conditions. If a Nominator, nominee and/or prize winner does not accept these Terms and Conditions, it must promptly inform the Promoter in writing and any prize will be forfeited.
Entry to the Promotion is restricted to Nominations from participants who satisfy the following eligibility requirements (“Eligibility Requirements”):
a. Participants must be at least 13 years of age. Where a participant is under 18 years of age, they may only participate with the prior consent of a parent or legal guardian. By entering or participating, the participant warrants and represents that such consent has been obtained. The Promoter reserves the right to request written evidence of parental or legal guardian consent at any time, and to disqualify any participant who is unable to provide such evidence upon request.
b. must be a New Zealand resident and be residing in New Zealand at the time the finalists and National winner are announced.
c. must be a Neighbourly member.
d. must not be, or be a member of the immediate family of, an employee of the Promoter or Prospa NZ Ltd (“Prospa”) or the business being nominated.
e. must be making a genuine nomination based on firsthand experience of the business and not be affiliated with the business being nominated.
f. must only nominate a business that is established and operating in New Zealand.
g. must make a nomination in accordance with any required form during the Nomination Period.
- Neighbourly staff, agencies and their families cannot nominate a business, or be nominated, in connection with the Promotion.
- To nominate for the Promotion, an entry must be submitted on the Neighbourly platform during the Nomination Period. There is no word limit or limit to the number of photos that may be attached to a nomination. All entries received outside the Nomination Period, including for the avoidance of doubt on or after, will be considered null and void.
- The Promoter reserves the right to: (i) request Nominators and/or nominated businesses provide proof of eligibility in connection with the Promotion including (but not limited to) age, identity and residence, and (ii) exclude at its sole discretion a Nomination if it determines that the Eligibility Requirements have not been met in respect of that Nomination.
Nominations will be judged based on the following criteria:
a. Overall quality of entry (based on the Nomination explaining why the business is worthy of a Nomination, including images and information identifying the business); and
b. Engagement by community (including ‘likes’, thanks and messages of support for the business from community members).
- Chance plays no part in winning this Promotion and the entries will be judged by the Promoter at 4 Williamson Ave, Auckland, New Zealand.
- One finalist from each of the Neighbourly regions (11 in total) will be chosen by a Neighbourly panel (the “Finalists”). The 11 regions are: Northland, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay/Gisborne, Manawatu-Wanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Marlborough, Canterbury-West Coast, and Otago-Southland.
- The Finalists, and the associated Nominators (“Finalist Nominators”), will be contacted from 15 May 2026. The Promoter will arrange for delivery of the prizes. Prizes will be delivered within a reasonable period following confirmation of eligibility and provision of all required information.
- The Finalists will be announced in a poll in connection with the Promotion published on the Neighbourly platform. Neighbourly members will be invited to vote in the poll to decide the overall National winner. The Promoter reserves the right to disregard votes that it reasonably determines to be fraudulent, manipulated or not cast in accordance with these Terms.
- The Finalist with the most votes at the conclusion of the voting period will be named the winner of the 2026 Local Business Hero Competition (the “Winner”). The runners-up are the Finalists who receive the second, third and fourth highest number of votes at the conclusion of the voting period (“Runners-Up”).
- All Finalists will receive:
- a NZ Local Business Hero Regional Finalist Certificate.
- a NZ Local Business Hero Regional Finalist Sticker.
The Winner will receive:
a. A NZ Local Business Hero Winner Certificate;
b. $2500 cash;
c. Stuff sponsored content including a sponsored article championing your business;
d. A Stuff print advertising package valued at $2,500. The package can be redeemed across any Stuff print title excluding NZ House & Garden and NZFarmer, subject to availability.
The publication date of the Stuff sponsored content will be outside the Promotion window, and the Winner will be required to provide commentary for the content.
Finalist Nominators will receive the following prizes at the conclusion of the shortlisting process:
a. $500 Prezzy® gift card for the Finalist Nominator of the Winner of the Local Business Hero competition.
b. $250 Prezzy® gift card for Finalist Nominators of the Runners Up of the Local Business Hero competition.
Prezzy® gift cards are issued by a third party and are subject to the issuer’s terms and conditions, including any expiry and redemption conditions. Neither the Promoter nor Prospa is responsible for the availability, quality, redemption or use of any third party prize.
- The decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The Promoter will arrange for delivery of the Winner’s prize. If a participant cannot be contacted, does not provide required information, or fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions within a reasonable time, the Promoter reserves the right to forfeit the relevant prize.
- Each prize must be taken as offered and is not transferable or exchangeable.
- Any costs associated with entering the Promotion or redeeming items, are the responsibility and at the sole cost of the nominator and/or prize winner (as applicable).
- Prospa’s involvement in the Promotion is limited to the sponsorship of certain prizes and Prospa is permitted to promote the Promotion at its discretion in its internal and external communications and/or Promotional materials. To the extent permitted by law, Prospa disclaims all other responsibility and liability in connection with the administration and offering of the Promotion, including any decision or judgment in connection with the Promotion.
- The Promoter and Prospa and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special, or consequential loss or loss of profits) or damage or personal injury or death suffered or sustained in connection with this Promotion or the acceptance or use of any redemption item (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law, in which case it will be excluded to the minimum allowable by law.
- Each of the Promoter and Prospa are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or any website, or any combination thereof (including, but not limited to) any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in this Promotion.
- Except for warranties and conditions implied by law which cannot be excluded, each of the Promoter and Prospa do not make any representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the quality or suitability of any prizes awarded under these Terms and Conditions.
- By submitting a nomination and/or the acceptance and receipt of a prize by the Finalist Nominator(s), Finalists, Winner(s) and or Runners-Up, (as applicable) is deemed to consent to their names, likeness, image or voice (or a combination of these) any interviews and/or photographs being used for any media associated with this Promotion. Prospa may also use such materials for its internal and external company communications, brand and promotional purposes in connection with the Promotion or its sponsorship of the Promotion, without remuneration or compensation.
- The Promoter will collect and use personal information provided by participants for the purposes of administering the Promotion, contacting participants, verifying eligibility and awarding prizes. Personal information may be disclosed to Prospa and to service providers assisting with the Promotion strictly for purposes related to the Promotion. All personal information will be handled by the Promoter in accordance with applicable privacy laws and the Promoter’s privacy policy.
- If for any reason this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, for example due to (including, but not limited to) infection by computer virus, bugs, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Promoter may take any action including cancelling or modifying the Promotion. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process.
- These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand and the parties submit to the nonexclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
