Conversations run more smoothly on Neighbourly when they stay on track. Ensuring your comments relate to the original topic avoids confusing other participants and readers, and also shows respect for the original poster who may be seeking some specific information, help or advice. For this reason, 'post hijacking' is not allowed on Neighbourly.
We define post hijacking as:
- Commenting on a post with a topic, question or opinion that does not relate to the original topic
- Piggybacking on another member's post for personal gain, eg using someone's post requesting a service or item to say you are also seeking the same thing
Instead, consider creating a new post, or contacting participants over private message to start a separate conversation.
To report a reply you consider to be off-topic, select "Report this message" from the '...' menu below the reply. The message will then be reviewed by the Neighbourly Team.
